Motherly Love

Take some time today to reflect on the one you love above all others. The one who has done so much for you that you could never repay the debt. The one who has shaped your adult life. Frank Zappa.

And you may want to call your mom, too.

After you've called your mother and/or enjoyed the finest brunch Holiday Inn has to offer, head over to Barfko-Swill and do something for yourself. You deserve it.

The first compilation of the Mothers of Invention, Mothermania, appeared on Verve/Bizarre in 1969 and was assembled by Frank himself, collecting tracks from the band's first three albums: Freak Out!, Absolutely Free and We're Only in it for the Money.

Out of print for decades, the Zappas reissued Mothermania as a digital download to celebrate its 40th anniversary. While most who would be interested in this item already have the Mothers' early records, some track exist as mixes and edits unique to this compilation.

Tracks include:
  1. Brown Shoes Don't Make It
  2. Mother People
  3. Duke of Prunes
  4. Call Any Vegetable
  5. The Idiot Bastard Son
  6. It Can't Happen Here
  7. You're Probably Wondering Why I'm Here
  8. Who Are the Brain Police?
  9. Plastic People
  10. Hungry Freaks, Daddy
  11. America Drinks & Goes Home
So remember your Mothers. It's probably been too long since you've really listened to what they had to say and their wisdom is priceless. Well, actually, it's about eighteen bucks, but aren't your Mothers worth it?
